Luigi Galligani was born in 1957. In 1985 the MONDADORI CATALOGUE OF ITALIAN SCULPTURE , on reporting of the art critics Renzo Biasion and Tommaso Paloscia , has published a work by the young tuscan artist . In 1992 with the collaboration of Ken's Art Gallery of Florence/Italy , which since 1985 exposes his works, Luigi Galligani gave lectures and held a conference at the Orange Coast college of Los Angeles/U.S.A. In 1993 , he was awarded the academic title of the corresponding class of sculpture. by the ACCADEMIA DELLE ARTI DEL DISEGNO of Florence . In 1996, the ACCADEMIA DEI GEORGOFILI OF FLORENCE, heavily damaged by a bomb in 1993, placed in the main hall of it's premises a basrelief by this artist in indelible memory of the destruction suffered.. In 1997 Prof Antonio Paolucci, former Minister of Culture in Italy , wrote the critic essay for the first monographic catalogue of Luigi Galligani's works. In 1999 the Region of Tuscany commissioned to the artist the sculpture "PEGASO STRAORDINARIO 1999" for Eugenio Garin, historian of philosophy. In the summer of 2001, in the park of Villa "LA VERSILIANA" , Forte dei Marmi /Tuscany ,(prestigious meeting point of all kind of artists, writers ,and so on), the artist set up an exhibition of his latest sculptures, accompanied by a catalogue with critical writings by Romano Battaglia and Antonio Paolucci. In 2002 he started a collaboration with the "Galleria d'arte Enrico Paoli" in PIETRASANTA/Tuscany and with " Capricorno Art Gallery " in the island of CAPRI. In 2003 the Royal Caribbean International commissioned to the artist a monumental sculpture in bronze and two busts in terracotta for the cruise ship " Mariner of the Seas". In 2004 the artist exhibits a range of monumental sculptures in Orbetello ( ancient town in the famous resort area of Maremma , in Tuscany ) on the theme of the Mediterranean Myth , presented by art critic Giovanni Faccenda; the exhibition lasted till December 2006. In 2005 his sculptures have been exposed in Capalbio with the presentation of Prof. Giuseppe Cordoni and at the Associazione Industriali di Firenze, with the collaboration of Prof. Mario Bigazzi, one of the main representatives in the field of intensive rehabilitation, who presents in this venue the group of bronze sculptures "Le Tre Grazie" before their definitive placement at the Istituto Tiberino in Umbertide. In 2006 , having been invited by the town of Maastricht to expose his works at an important international sculpture fair , he exhibited three bronze sculptures which were displayed in the gardens of chateau Nercanne. In 2007 he created the "Audience prize" , a bronze bas-relief , for Ilian Simeonov ,director of the movie " Warden of the Dead" in the section:"Oltre il Mediterraneo" at the Taormina film Festival 2007. Nel 2008 the artist presented 10 sculptures ( in bronze and in terracotta ) at the Agora Gallery in NEW YORK in the occasion of the exhibition " The Odyssey Within" . Always in 2009 he started to collaborate with Galleria d'Arte di Ada Zunino. In Milan/Italy, famous for contemporary sculpture, where he has presented some of his works. In 2010 Prof. Carlo Franza presented a solo exhibition of the artist at the Circolo della Stampa in Milan ,with the collaboration of Galleria di Ada Zunino, and also with the collaboration of his important collector Dr. Henk Van Den Broek who ownes some of Luigi Galligani's large works placed in his lovely Renaissance Villa in Tuscany. In the same year he held a solo exhibition ,titled: "Mermaids and more" at Ken's Art Gallery of Florence, whose Director, Mr. Walter Bellini has been promoting his works in Italy and abroad for at least 25 years and is now planning important future events in Europe. Always in 2010 the artist has been invited by Dr. Renato Grassini, curator of this exhibition,to show some of his mermaids at Villa Necchi-Gambolò in Pavia/Italy( villa which has lately been restored and recently opened to the public ). In 2011 he realized a personal exhibition at Satura Art Gallery of Genova and in the same period he showed three large sculptures in the exhibition "I Quattro Elementi" in the Castello Estense of Ferrara,organized by Ferrara ProArt. Many of Luigi Galligani's sculptures inspired by the theme of the Mediterranean Myth are displayed at Fattoria di Corsignano, in the Casentino area of Tuscany , with many other important art works of contemporary art collected by the owner of this large property Mr. Lorenzo Lori who actively cooperates with the artist as regards exhibition planning and support.
