Luigi Galligani was born in Pistoia in 1957.
He attended the Academy of Fine Arts in Florence and Carrara, where he graduated in 1980 with a thesis on Marino Marini.
1993 - the Academy of Design Arts in Florence awarded him the title of Correspondent Academic of the Sculpture Class.
Luigi Galligani's work has featured in galleries in Italy and abroad. His work can be found in private collections in Italy, the United States, The Netherlands, Belgium, Great Britain, France, Spain, China, Japan, South Korea, Austria, Switzerland, Germany, Greece, Lebanon, Luxembourg, Sweden and Australia.
Commissions and works in public spaces:
1999 - The Tuscany Region commissioned Galligani with the "PEGASO STRAORDINARIO 1999" for Eugenio Garin, philosophy historian.
2003 - The American Company ROYAL CARIBBEAN INTERNATIONAL commissioned Galligani to produce a monumental bronze: "PORTATRICE D'ACQUA" (Height: 245 cm) and 2 terracotta busts, "CALIPSO" and "CIRCE", for the cruise ship "MARINER OF THE SEAS ".
2006 - The Industrial Association of Florence commissioned him to produce a bronze, to be given to Luca Cordero di Montezemolo at the 22 June Assembly in the Palazzo dei Congressi, Florence.
2007 - Galligani produced the "Audience Prize", a bronze bas-relief, for Ilian Simeonov, director of the film "Warden of the Dead" in the "Beyond the Mediterranean" section of the Taormina Film Festival, 2007.
In the same year, Orbetello City Council commissioned Galligani to make the bronze group "LE TRE GRAZIE", which is permanently displayed in front of the Palazzo Comune di Orbetello in Piazza Plebiscito.
2008/2009 - Galligani produced two large golden bronze sculptures: "Il Canto delle Sirene", for the Encore Hotel Wynn Las Vegas, and the Encore Hotel Wynn Macau (Steve Wynn Collection).
2010 - Carlo Franza presented a solo exhibition by Galligani at the Circolo della Stampa in Milan (Palazzo Serbelloni), with the collaboration of Galleria di Ada Zunino, and Galligani received the Sculpture Prize the same year, also in Milan.
2014 - Salvo Nugnes, Director of the Milan Art Gallery, organised a solo exhibition of sculptures by Galligani. The inauguration was attended by Vittorio Sgarbi, who then wrote about him in the exhibition catalogue.
2015 – In collaboration with the Gallery Bell'Arte, Maastricht, Galligani completed a bronze version of "CANTO DELLE SIRENE" for the recently restored HOTEL KURHAUS, Scheveningen.
2016/2017 - again in collaboration with Gallery Bell'Arte, Galligani produced a bronze work, "VENERE CON LO SPECCHIO", again for HOTEL KURHAUS in Scheveningen.
